Mr Mike Wallwork

Mike Wallwork is the inaugural Chairman for the ROADS Foundation.
Mike has an Engineering background and was employed by Main Roads from 1960 to 2008, when he retired.In 1963 he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Western Australia (UWA). He worked in the Narrogin and Kimberley Divisions of Main Roads WA and was appointed Divisional Engineer Albany in 1972. He transferred to the Pilbara as Divisional Engineer in 1976. In 1980 Mike was transferred to Perth and assisted the Director Operations North and in 1987 he was appointed to this position.
From 1987 to 2004 Mike was appointed as the Executive Director Rural Roads and Executive Director Construction and Maintenance Services. He was responsible for the regional activities in Main Road WA.
Ms Kellie Keable
Asset Management Officer
Main Roads WA
Kellie commenced a career in road construction in 1998 at the age of 18, working for BGC with her job including labouring, traffic control, stringing and driving machinery. She gained a true appreciation of the size and diversity of Western Australia and the vastness of the road network in this position.
In 2004 Kellie accepted an opportunity to participate in a two year Technical Traineeship pilot program with Main Roads. This included working closely with surveillance officers and engineering staff. On completion of the program Kellie accepted a full time position as a Technical Surveillance Officer in the Goldfields Esperance Region. The function of this job in- cluded ensuring the road network complies with appropriate safety, service and maintenance standards.
In 2006 Kellie was nominated for the Commissioner's Rising Star Award. She was also invited to participate as a member of The ROADS Foundation Board to provide advice and information on her experience as a Technical Trainee and to promote training in the road construction industry to youth in the regions.
Ms Ricky Burges

Ricky joined WALGA in February 2000. Prior to joining WALGA, she was the Director General of the Department for Culture & the Arts, a position she held for 18 months, Chief Executive Officer of Perth Zoo for four years and a Director of Human Resources at the WA Tourism Commission for seven years.
She has a Masters in Leadership and Management from the Curtin University of Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Development.
Ricky sits on the UWA Urban & Regional Planning Board, The ROADS Foundation, the Local Government Insurance Board and various Local Government committees and boards, as well as the Board of Leadership WA. Ricky is past President of the Australian Institute of Management and the board of the Art Gallery of Western Australia. She was the Western Australian Businesswoman of the Year in 1997.
Mr Ray Harris
Director Apprenticeships and Traineeships
Department of Training and Workforce Development
Ray has worked in the Department of Education and Training since 1994 and now holds the position of Director, Apprenticeships and Traineeships. He is responsible for apprenticeship and traineeship policy development in Western Australia and the ApprentiCentre, which provides assistance and support for nearly 35,000 apprentices and trainees and their employers. Ray has previously worked for Commonwealth government in the employment and training field.
From a building and construction industry perspective, Ray was the Executive Officer in 2002 for the Review of the Building and Construction Industry Training Fund and Levy Collection Act 1990 and more recently, developed the Priority Start - Building Policy introduced for State government construction works projects.
Mr Ralph Dawson

Ralph has had a career in the state Public Sector which spans approximately 40 years. In that time he has worked within a diverse range of service agencies including Public Works, Consumer Protection, Industrial Relations and Vocational Education and Training.
In the past 20 years, Ralph has worked in senior management roles including Director of Corporate Services and Managing Director of a large TAFE College. Ralph also has considerable experience in corporate governance having participated in numerous Boards and Committees.
Mr Alan Claydon

Responsibilities in this Directorate include:
- Engineering Design of municipal projects including roads, drainage, traffic management etc
- Engineering Planning of land developments, future infrastructure
- Parks and Reserves capital development and maintenance
- Canal Waterways design, planning and maintenance

- Business Units
- Waste Management
Before his appointment in 1992, Allan was the Shire Engineer for the Shire of Broome. Other previous employment was with the City of Stirling and Main Roads WA.
Allan has been actively engaged in the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (IPWEA) WA Division and has held the role of President. He is now the Chairman of the South West Branch of the IPWEA (WA) and is a member of the National Board of IPWEA Australia. An additional role is as a member of the IPWEA (WA) Foundation which assists with training and development opportunities for those engaged in the public works arena.
Allan is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mr Ashley Wright

Appointed Operations Manager of GHD in July 2008, Ashley, a civil engineer with more than twenty years consulting and contracting experience, is responsible for all operational aspects of the business including financial performance, major project tender review, commercial terms and conditions, risk management, technical excellence, quality, safety and sustainability.
Ashley has been an active executive committee member of the Association of Consulting Engineering Australia WA Division since 2003 and represents the ACEA on the Commissioner of Main Roads Construction and Maintenance Industry Advisory Group.
Mr Jeff Miller

Civil Contractors Federation (WA)
Jeff is the Chief Executive Officer of the Civil Contractors Federation (WA Branch). Prior to this Jeff held a senior Asia-Pacific role with an international not-for-profit organisation, Alpha.
Jeff has over 20 years of commercial experience since obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Western Australia in 1987 and later qualifying as a CPA in 1991. He worked as an accountant for Arthur Andersen in Perth City before joining Alcoa in 1990 in various roles within their Western Australian operations.
In the mid 1990s Jeff formed his own marketing and communications consultancy and went on to work with clients including the National Australia Day Council, Macquarie Bank and the Australian Hockey Association. This lead to providing more operations consulting advice and to being involved in creating and improving existing not for profit organisations. Jeff has a wealth of experience in the commercial, government and not-for-profit sectors in the areas of marketing, communications, sponsorship and fundraising and serves on various honorary boards.
Mr Menno Henneveld

Menno Henneveld was appointed to the position of Commissioner of Main Roads in December 2002. He is a Civil Engineer with post graduate qualifications in Project Management and Business Administration. Menno is a Fellow of Engineers Australia, a Fellow of the Austra- lian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Customer Service Institute of Australia. He also has affiliations with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
Prior to this appointment, Menno had a 38 year career in the water industry with a close involvement at all levels in the planning, construction, maintenance and operations of water supply, sewerage, irrigation and drainage schemes. He held the positions of Director of Engineering Services; General Manager Commercial; General Manager Customer Services and Group Director, Major Developments with the Water Corporation of Western Australia.
Menno has introduced an integrated planning approach in Main Roads WA which aligns the organisation's strategic and corporate planning process with the Western Australian Government's Strategic Planning Framework. This business planning approach has led to Main Roads achieving national recognition for customer service, leading edge HR programs, community engagement and a Bronze standard in the Australian Business Excellence framework. Main Roads has also implemented certified Occupational Safety and Health; Environmental Management and Project and Contract Management Systems.
Menno is the immediate past Chairman of Austroads, the association of Australian and New Zealand road transport and traffic authorities and a Non-Executive Board member of the ARRB Group Ltd, formerly known as the Australian Road Research Board. In November 2006 Menno was appointed Australia's First Delegate to the World Road Association (PIARC).
He is the inaugural and current Chairman of the Australasian Society for Trenchless Technology, which was founded in 1991. Menno is also the immediate past Chairman of the International Society for Trenchless Technology, having previously been Vice President since 1998 and Vice Chairman since 2001.
